Technical Committees
Guiding the high-interest initiatives in communication technology.
Members of our technical committees provide the foundation for IEEE ComSoc’s technological pursuits. From big data to optical networking, from social networks to wireless communications, current topics bring professionals with common interests in communication together—twice a year at major conferences and throughout the year to determine which events, conferences and workshops will be technically co-sponsored by IEEE ComSoc.
Emerging Technologies Initiatives
The Emerging Technologies Committee (ETC) identifies and nurtures new technology directions through initiatives of high interest to ComSoc members. Members are encouraged to form new initiatives, which may evolve into full-fledged technical committees under TEAC. These initiatives promote their technical area and may co-sponsor IEEE ComSoc conferences and publications. All members are encouraged to participate in or propose new ETC initiatives.
Industry Communities
The Industry Communities Board (ICB) organizes industry member communities around relevant topics to enhance engagement with Society products and services. It ensures quality content in industry-oriented conferences, events, education, and publications. The ICB aims to increase industry membership and participation in ComSoc activities.
Standards
Our members and volunteers are key to developing and implementing communications standards. IEEE ComSoc offers platforms for discussing standards-related topics via its Standards Magazine and Boards. Working with the IEEE Standards Association, experts facilitate standards development in communications and networking.
