See Topic of Interest: Remote Maintenance
This general topic impacts SDC/SDPi connected systems, but how specifically should it be supported. Relationships to other standards and profiles (e.g., MEM/DMC) or company specific extensions, etc.
Medical and health technology manufacturers, as well as implementers and maintainers (incl. CE / BME / HTM professionals) need to be able to "remotely" manage deployed technology. This has been and continues to be a major topic of discussion and standardization in many organizations, including ISO/TC 215, IEC 62, AAMI, and others. ISO/IEEE 11073 SDC provides for both participant configuration descriptive information (e.g., serial numbers, software version numbers, etc.) and system context information (e.g., location and workflow), and more. Question is what needs to be specified in the SDPi-P and related profiles to support remote maintenance? Is this simply a topic supported in a use case description using existing SDC/SDPi MDI constructs? Or does it require additional profiling and an "Option" to the profile?
